The Eiger North Face

It’s an easy train ride from Wengen to themountain railway station on Kleine Scheidegg. The spectacular view of the EigerNorth Face will take your breath away on arrival. Follow the purple trailmarkers along the winter hiking trail down into the valley through Arvengarten,Mettla, to the Alpiglen mountain inn and enjoy the magnificent panoramic viewof the Grindelwald Valley. The mountain inn is the ideal place to re-energizewith a cup of coffee and a piece of delicious cake. It is a comfortable train tripfrom Alpiglen back to the valley, or you can make the descent on foot.

Männlichen - Männlichengipfel

The Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau rise upmajestically: the summit of the Männlichen offers a view of the world-famoustrio fit for a king. But a king has a hard road to travel before he can enjoyhis triumph. For hikers, the Männlichen is no different. The starting point iseasily accessible by gondola from Grindelwald Grund. The hike starts on theMännlichen and takes about 25 minutes to reach the Männlichen summit. Thebreathtaking panoramic view makes you forget all the exertions of the ascent.The view from the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau over the Breithorn to Lake Thunand the Wetterhorn guarantees a unique and unforgettable experience.

Kleine Scheidegg - Fallboden

At the foot of the Eiger, Mönch, andJungfrau, it’s an easy train ride from Wengen to the mountain railway stationon Kleine Scheidegg. The spectacular view of the Eiger North Face will takeyour breath away on arrival. Follow the trail marked with purple trail markers,passing Hotel Bellevue. The trail climbs gently uphill until you reach theFallbodensee, a man-made lake which serves as a reservoir for making artificialsnow for the surrounding ski slopes in early winter. Before you head back tothe Kleine Scheidegg, stop in at the «Chilchli», which is directly on the edgeof the lake. The «Chilchli» used to be a transformer station for the JungfrauRailways and today is a protected historical landmark. It hosts an exhibitionabout the history of ascents over the Eiger North Face.
